Compare the Subaru Solterra to the Competition

When it comes to style, the Subaru Solterra and Tesla Model Y share similar characteristics in size and body style, but the Solterra provides a more familiar layout and drive feel than the sparse Model Y. The modern, digitized dashboard is also easier to use in the Solterra thanks to redundant physical buttons and a familiar layout that incorporates Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, both of which are excluded from the Tesla lineup.

The Subaru Solterra has an EPA-estimated range of 222 to 228 miles, below the base Model Y's 260-mile offering. However, the base Model Y only has rear-wheel drive. You can also opt for a long-range battery that will provide a superior 303 to 330, but those models are well above the Subaru Solterra's affordable price point. Both vehicles can recharge through a Level I connection with the included portable charger or at Level II or Level III fast charging stations. The Solterra can also plug in at a Tesla Supercharger for convenience and access to more public charging locations.
