When prepping your vehicle in the northeast, you want to ensure it is ready to handle whatever the winter throws. From icy conditions to consistent snowfall, preparing your vehicle gives you peace of mind for the journey ahead.

Our team here at White River Subaru invite you to learn how you can get your vehicle ready through our service center. We'll share details about our winterization services and how you can prepare your vehicle for the snowy conditions. Feel free to reach out to our team if you would like to go ahead and schedule a service with our dealership.

Prepping Your Vehicle for Winter

At our service center, our dedicated team of certified technicians will perform a myriad of tests and inspections on your vehicle to determine its winter readiness. Among these tests include checking your coolant levels as well the cooling system. In addition, the technician performs a routine oil service where the engine oil is exchanged, and the oil filter is swapped out. During the service, we'll also check the tread depth of each tire to determine its current wear to go along with its current pressure. Keeping your tire pressures up helps to optimize grip and efficiency.

Along with vehicle fluids and tires, the technician inspects the battery and electrical components. Your vehicle's main battery is vital in the wintertime. With the long nights and frigid temperatures, ensuring your battery retains a high charge means your lights will illuminate the roads and start the engine. We also check your vehicle's other vital fluids, including the transmission and brake fluid, so they are performing as normal.

Additional Services

Along with our winterizing services, you can add additional services, including mounting winter tires and adding winter wiper blades to the vehicles. Winter tires provide additional grip and control when going through snowy or icy. Coupled with a Subaru model's symmetrical all-wheel-drive, you go over all terrain surfaces with assurance.

We recommend replacing hoses and belts on a vehicle over 140,000 miles. Feel to refer to our frequently asked questions if you like to learn more about our winter services.

Tips for Driving in the Snow

When you set off on your next journey through the snow near Hanover, NH, we recommend you do so with more than half a tank of gas in your fuel tank. This prevents the possible condensation build-up in the tanks and provides added traction to the rear tires. It's also a good idea to ensure your tires have plenty of tread left on them before setting off on the drive.

Once you get home from your drive, you want to ensure you shut off your lights and wiper blades before shutting the engine off. When you start the engine the next morning, the battery is saved thanks to the wiper and lights being in the off position. Plus, you prevent wipers from damage if the temperatures drop below freezing.

We also recommend you keep an emergency kit, water, blankets, and a flashlight on board the vehicle. You will also need to include a deicer to prevent doors and locks from freezing up.
